The Origo Methodology
The Origo methodology borrows from the rational unified process (RUP), the agile methodology and also from the traditional software development lifecycle (SDLC). The Origo methodology provides a simple yet time and schedule sensitive approach towards transforming business processes (especially those associated with technology development processes), through effective documentation, measurements, feedback and adjustment using agile principles.

The methodologies’ lifetime consists of the well known phases of the rational unified process (RUP). Each of the phases ends in well defined milestones. The phases and requisite milestones are outlined as follows:
1. Inception Phase ==> Lifecycle Objectives Milestone
2. Elaboration Phase ==> Lifecycle Architecture Milestone
3. Construction Phase ==> Initial Operational Capability Milestone
4. Transition Phase ==> Product Release Milestone

Process areas and general practices introduced by the Capability Maturity Model are adhered to within the methodology thereby producing certifiable capability within the organization simultaneously while program lifecycles are traversed.

Phases can be re-entered for all activities and events such as artifacts, processes, other phases etc. if milestone constraints are not met through reviews and audit policies.

The benefits of producing quality software products as a result of using well defined industry methodologies is well documented and an organizations approach, use and acceptance of the concepts found in the Origo Methodology will provide proven results in quality, repeatability and efficiencies in business process areas.

Without the benefits of process methodology, effective productivity yields can be hard to realize and measure in most complex business environments.
